The Benefits of Racialized Teachers

11.1 “A top-line finding of a working paper published in the National Bureau of Economic Research, in which researchers from Johns Hopkins and American University outline findings that show that black students who are exposed to one black teacher by third grade were 13% more likely to enroll in college. Those who had two black teachers were 32% more likely to enroll in college.”

“Black students who are exposed to Black teachers by third grade are 13% more likely to enroll in college, research shows. This is called the role-model effect.”

“Each of these strategies have been shown to have a major impact on the number of Black candidates who ultimately enter the classroom.”

11.2 How can the DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki expect any racialized students or teachers like Mr. Thomas to attend Connaught Public School every day without feeling alienated when all they have done is purposefully and intentionally staffed everyone surrounded them with individuals who do not look like them or who they can relate to?

11.3 His sounds a lot like “In organizations (like the DSBN) without formal mentoring programs, it is typical for leaders (like Warren Hoshizaki) to mentor those who look like them and have similar backgrounds.”

11.4 This is the fault of the DSBN, Warren Hoshizaki, and the entire DSBN workforce. Every Caucasian employee who works for the DSBN, who gets up, goes to work, and observes what is happening and is guilty of being complacent and enabling the racist culture that exist.

11.5 These same Caucasian employees are able to see what is in front of them using their own eyes. An ocean of Caucasians employees, and not a single person has raised an issue or taken action in response. Instead they remain silent, and keep getting paid.

11.6 What message does it provide to any racialized employees who observe see what is happening and realizes no one is concerned? No racialized employees wants to the first to upset the apple cart, cause trouble and risk being shunned or even being abruptly removed from their Casual and Temporary positions.

11.7 Since 2006 or 2007, the DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki have been deliberately stacking the deck against any and all racialized employees. Which has resulted in a racial supremacy systemic culture within the DSBN, PERIOD!
