Establishing the Hidden Truth
A.1 The DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki for almost two decades have deliberate and intentional strived to mislead the public in an effort to hide the reality of their discriminating actions and racist culture.
A.2 Like the majority of school boards in Ontario, the DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki refuse to keep even the most basic records on the quantity of racist complaints that are presented daily to school boards about their employees. It is clear that the more racial data they gather and monitor on their employees, the easier it will be to level charges and be able to prove them.
A.3 Families can currently only access information on racist activity on canlii.org if it was formally reported against the DSBN. However, a great deal of families do not have the resources to hire a lawyer to defend them in court, nor the time to painstakingly record every occurrence over the course of months to years. Waiting to have sufficient proof to establish that this is more than just “unfair treatment.“ It’s a laborious, protracted process that takes a very long time to finish and causes a great deal of stress and frustration in the process.
A.4 The DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki are well aware of this, and they have intentionally refrained from putting in place a mechanism that would provide families access to documentation and records of earlier filed racial complaints. The reason the DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki have declined to save this kind of data/information is that they do not wish to assist parents in obtaining additional proof of possible racial behavior on the part of school boards, their members and staff. The DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki have determined that it is preferable to manage all complaints secretly, IN-HOUSE rather than run the risk of having an impartial third party become involved and review the facts.
A.5 These actions alone on this issue should raise red flags and be labeled as racist behavior. Because the DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki have absolutely no excuses or reasoning not to want to implement this system that supports their desire, according to the DSBN website to end racism within their school board. Instead, they have for almost two decades talk about stopping racism and making school fair for all. And yet, at every opportunity, they have steered clear of this database to record basic racist complaints made by concerned parents!
A.6 The DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki’s only real objective for this racist behavior is to keep covering up and concealing all the IN-HOUSE racist behaviors of their workforce and the racist culture they support.
A.7 Their current actions are akin to finding a letter where a teacher uses racist slurs and placing it behind a picture frame, deliberately conceal everything, hoping that no one will ever find out. And then refusing to acknowledge it exists when asked about it!
A.8 It is clear why the DSBN, Warren Hoshizaki and its committees of Caucasian dominance have made zero attempts or efforts to embrace any such ideal and necessary database. For, in the end, it would empower racialized people to keep an eye on the school board actions and confront any recurring racist offenders—the same kind of racialized people the DSBN and Warren Hoshizaki decline to employ and present with job opportunities!
A.9 As the HRTO has never made any recommendations to the OHRC in regards to this issue, school boards are not required to retain this data, the public has come to the conclusion that they should maybe attempt to resolve the matter by drawing attention to this grave problem in Ontario.
A.10 In an ideal world, all complaints submitted to school boards would be listed in a database that parents could view. If there was a database like that, can you imagine what the DSBN and people like Warren Hoshizaki and Jacqueline Ravazzolo would do? They would act appropriately and show racialized children/students the equality and respect they preach about!
A.11 In a perfect scenario, a single database could disclose any parents complaints filed against the DSBN over the course of years. And even if the offender transfers schools, what a fantastic tool it would be to assist parents in proving a pattern of their racism.
A.12 Additionally, school boards and their employees would be aware that their actions are being observed and noted and that one day someone may expose their persistent and biased behavior. The discriminatory education system in Ontario would eventually begin to change for the better thanks to a database being mandatory imposed to be kept up to date by the school boards.
A.13 This would surely help the HRTO find and establish racial tendencies among employees and school boards. To be clear neither Warren Hoshizaki nor the DSBN, nor any other Ontario school board are interested in or motivated to create a system for this type of database. Why would they?
A.14 The applicant’s parents have emailed Warren Hoshizaki in regards to this simple issue 6 times and not once did he bother to reply. When you are unable to explain your actions. It is suggested to remain silent and appear to be fool, than to open your mouth and only to prove it!
A.15 Someone silence on an issue they care so much about, say a lot about how much they really care!
